Salada Green Chai Tea

When I submitted my review for Lipton Spiced Chai Tea, I provided a brief history of Chai Tea. One of the topics I discuss in that review pertains to the composition of Chai Tea. I do not purchase Chai that does not contain pepper, which I feel gives the tea an extra zing. Additionally, Chai Tea is traditionally made from Black Tea. I have never tried it with Green Tea before, so I decided I would give it a go.

Most Chai Tea contains cinnamon, so people with cinnamon allergies should probably steer clear of Chai Tea in general. Salada Green Chai Tea starts with Green Tea combined with clove, cinnamon, cardamom, allspice and nutmeg. This tea does not contain black pepper and is made from green tea, which are both elements that I consider essential to a Chai Tea Latte. However, after experiencing this product, I think I may have been a bit prudish in my initial assessment.

Salada Green Tea Chai is a smooth delicate blend of spices that has less bite than Lipton Spiced Chai. I like the bite of the pepper in my Chai Tea, but if I drink the Green Tea Chai without comparing it to the original style, I find it to be more favorable than I would have thought. It is lighter and smoother, but has some very nice qualities. If you are in the mood for something a little tamer, the Salada Green Tea Chai provides a mild alternative. The blend of spices has a small kick with a very mellow tea flavor. With the milk and honey, this Chai is almost like eating candy. The lack of bite makes for a laid back drink that is actually kind of soothing. I still like the Black Tea with Black Pepper in my Chai, but have found a mellow substitute.
