Nexcare Comfort Strips
I went for a run a few days ago and was attacked by two dogs. I was bitten several times. After visiting the Urgent Care Clinic, I was prescribed Augmentin in case any bacteria got into the puncture wounds. The Doctor advised that he did not want to stitch up the punctures so they could heal and drain. He advised that I should take the oral antibiotic and clean the wounds with soap and water. After the wounds scabbed over, they continued to drain slightly. I purchased Nexcare Comfort Fabric bandages to absorb any drainage and to protect the wounds while they heal. The Nexcare bandages were slightly cheaper than the other major brands, and only slightly more expensive than the generic brands.
3M Products
These bandages are made by 3M. I don’t recall if I have purchased these bandages in the past, but I recognize 3M as a quality brand. I know 3M more for their Post-It Notes and other business oriented products. It appears that they also offer several products in the Health Products area. Being a name brand company, I figured I could trust them. The price point of their products made them even more attractive.
My Activity Level
I lead a fairly active lifestyle. I stay very busy during the day and I also exercise regularly. One problem that I have experienced with generic bandages (especially the plastic ones) is that they slip off when they are exposed to moisture. These bite marks were mostly on my left leg, although I was also bitten on my right arm. These wounds did not require bandaging. The two major issues I have with bandaging a wound on my leg is that my activity level places a certain amount of strain on a bandage. With hairy legs, this means pulling on the leg hairs. The other issue is sweat. If I am running, I need a bandage that will withstand the moisture created when sweat runs down my legs. The Nexcare bandages are made from fabric which flexes with movement. This prevents the pulling that stiffer plastic bandages cause. The adhesiveness of these bandages is exceptional. They withstand the moisture but create another issue. Removing bandages with a strong adhesive from hairy legs can be a painful proposition. I wish I had shaved that area first! I was very pleased with these features.
