Rolaids Soft Chews

Warning! This medicine tastes like candy. Although it is primarily calcium, it does have recommended maximum dosages. If you have young children in the house, they may be tempted to eat the whole box like candy. I would strongly recommend putting this somewhere safe, where little hands won't get them.

Effectiveness
I will discuss the effectiveness of this product first, because ultimately that is why I buy them. When I have heartburn, I will gladly douse it with a nasty swig of Pepto Bismol, if that's what I have available to put the fire out. Rolaids Plus Antacid and Antigas works quickly and effectively. The dosage recommendation on the box indicates two to three chews per hour as needed. This dosage is adequate for my needs. I normally go with a single chew and see how well it performs. I normally end up taking a second chew shortly thereafter to finish quieting my stomach. I have not needed more than two chews at any given time to make my heartburn disappear. I take this product primarily for heartburn, although it is also effective for sour stomach and bloating (gas). I don't get bloated so I can't really address how this product works for bloating.

Flavor
As I mentioned, the most important factor in using a heartburn medicine is the effectiveness of the treatment. If it doesn't work, why bother? However, if I don't have to suffer through the disgusting process of ingesting Pepto Bismol, then why would I? Flavor is sort of a side benefit of taking a product that isn't unpleasant. I do not like the taste of Pepto Bismol, and avoid that product whenever possible. I also do not care for the traditional flavored Tums, which were equivalent to licking the mint wrapper on a Wrigley's stick of gum. The flavor of Rolaids Plus Tropical Fruit reminds me of eating a Starburst candy chew. The flavor is delicious. The texture of the chew is significantly softer than a starburst, but the flavor is similar. The process of medicating your heartburn with Rolaids Plus Tropical Fruit is more pleasant than any product I have ever tried. Prior to trying this flavor, I had settled on the Wild Cherry Rolaids Plus which also have a very pleasant flavor. However, the Tropical Fruit is a superior flavor and will be my first choice from now on.
