Nature Made Triple Flex
I have been an avid runner for two and a half decades. The constant jarring has had a negative impact on my joints, especially my knees. While visiting my family Doctor regarding a shoulder injury, I asked him about Glucosamine. My Doctor advised that he had been reading some very favorable reports regarding the use of Glucosomine to combat arthritis. My Doctor also indicated that it wouldn’t hurt to try it out and see how it works for my knees. He recommended finding a formula that includes Chondroitin and Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM).
While shopping at Sam’s Club, I noticed that they had several types of Glucosamine available. The only brand that I could find that had all three elements included was Nature Made Triple Flex. The bottle indicated that this product contained 1500 mg of Glucosamine, 800 grams of Chondroitin and 750 mg of MSM. The bottle contained 150 caplets and was priced just under twenty dollars. When compared to the other products, this was a little bit more expensive. However, on closer inspection, I discovered that many of the other brands required three caplets per day, because the strength of each capsule was lower. As an overall value, the Triple Flex provided all three ingredients, and was cheaper per dose. When preparing this review, I searched Epinions partner websites and determined that the best on-line price is at Amazon.com for $27.95. There are other websites that have this product for $17.99 which is closer to what I paid at Sam’s Club. If you have a Sam’s Club membership, that is probably going to be your best bet.
Glucosamine is an amino sugar made primarily from the exo-skeleton of crustaceans. In other words, it is made from crab shells. The medical community has differing opinions on the effectiveness of this product, which is primarily prescribed for Arthritis. As I mentioned earlier, my Doctor felt that the studies have been positive, making this over-the-counter supplement a viable preventative medicine for my joints. Glycosaminoglycans, which are a major component of joint cartilage are a product of Glucosamine. The theory then, is that Glucosamine helps to rebuild that damaged cartilage. There are no daily prescribed values for Glucosamine, but the standard dosage for the treatment of arthritis is 1500 mg, which is the amount delivered in a single dosage of this product. Glucosamine is made from shellfish, but is believed to be safe, even for those who have allergic reactions to shellfish, as this product is made from the shell, while the allergens normally reside in the flesh of the shellfish.
