Remington Oil Wipes
As a Firearms Instructor, I am often saddled with the responsibility of cleaning longarms after shooting at the range. I also own several handguns which I disassemble and clean following every use. During my time in the Marine Corps, cleaning firearms was a tedious task that was scrutinized in detail that was somewhat ridiculous. White gloves just don't belong on a firearm. But, that's the way our firearms were often inspected. In the past, I have used Hilco Lube wipes to clean my firearms, but I recently discovered Remington Rem Oil Wipes which work just as well.
Rem Oil Wipes are easy to use. They come in individually wrapped packages. Each wipe is 6" X 8" which provides just enough product to clean a handgun after average use. A rifle or shotgun will require more than one wipe. When cleaning a handgun, the wipes can be twisted and inserted in one end of the barrel and pulled through the other end to clean and lubricate the inside of your barrel. This does not require the use of a bore punch or patch attachment. For a rifle, the wipe can be cut into smaller pieces to be run through the barrel like a regular patch. On the other surfaces of the weapon, the wipe can be used to clean and lubricate areas where carbon accumulates. This product can be used in conjunction with cleaning tools or by itself. Without the use of additional tools, Rem Oil Wipes will remove the majority of carbon from your firearm. Used regularly, these wipes can prevent build up of carbon in your weapon.
Rem Oil Wipes have protective qualities. These wipes are infused with teflon lubricant. This helps to repel moisture to prevent rust and corrosion. For firearms (like my Glock) that do not require an excessive application of oil, these wipes will provide adequate lubrication for the firearm to function properly. Rem Oil Wipes are intended for use on metal surfaces but can also restore the luster on wood stocks.
