Comtrex Cold And Cough

I was recently advised by my Doctor to take Mucinex D to relieve a sinus infection. Muxinex D worked great for that purpose but does not treat pain. When I have a full fledged cold or flu, I prefer to use Maximum Strength Comtrex which treats more symptoms. Comtrex is my drug of choice for cold and flu.

Maximum Strength Comtrex treats a number of symptoms related to cold and flu. The box contains a daytime version that does not cause drowsiness and a nighttime version that "aids sleep." Comtrex daytime relieves nasal congestion, sore throat pain, headache and will suppress coughing. The nighttime caplets relieve the same symptoms but also have an antihistimine which causes drowsiness. The nighttime caplets also treat sneezing and runny nose. The symptom relief that I have experienced with Comtrex has been sufficient to hold me over until my cold has cleared. At four to five dollars per box, it is money well spent.

The dosing in Maximum Strength Comtrex will last just under two days. There are ten daytime and ten nighttime caplets in each box. The dosage is two caplets every four hours...so potentially you could continually dose for forty hours. Compared to Mucinex D, the price is slightly cheaper by dosage. Mucinex D requires two caplets every twelve hours. The box contains nine doses which last twelve hours each...indicating that you could continually dose with a package of Mucinex D for four and a half days. The four hour dosing of Comtrex provides adequate relief for the full four hours, allowing you to dose again before symptoms begin to creep back in.
